Newsworthy Birthdays Of Dr. Evermor And A Light Bulb
September 21, 2008
This weekend we noticed the mainstream media covering the birthdays of two Roadside characters, one animate and one inanimate: Tom Every (aka “Dr. Evermor”) turned 70 on Saturday, and “The Eternal Light” took a step closer to eternity by turning 100 on Sunday.
Dr. Evermor is the still-sparking artist behind The Forevertron near Baraboo, Wisconsin, and The Eternal Light in Fort Worth, Texas, is the world’s second longest-burning light bulb.
Tourist attraction birthdays and milestones always seemed important to us, but who knew that readers of regular newspapers cared? Next up: attractions reported as sources of insight. The 44th anniversary of both the Warren Commission Report and Gilligan’s Island are later this week, so we anticipate dispatches from Echo Park island and the Conspiracy Museum.
