Fish-Factory Tour In Dumpster?
May 27, 2008
Since 2004, big plans have been made in the Pacific Northwest for a tourist attraction named the Oregon Fish Factory, Astoria, Oregon, where visitors could “watch fish processing in action.” But according to a story in the Oregonian, those plans are now on the verge of collapse. The reported reason is ballooning costs and bad debt, not any lack of interest in watching fish being gutted.
Until we get a new economic menu, our window on the world of food processing may be limited to watching cheese being made. Nevertheless, we can still walk around inside the hollow innards of a big fish and other sea creatures, even if we can’t witness their evisceration.
