Ceremonial Cross Diving: Another year, another Epiphany Cross splashy-scramble among the sponge-happy sons of Tarpon Springs, Florida.

Missing Nut: The much-anticipated new World’s Largest Pecan in Seguin, Texas, is now in limbo — because the company that was supposed to build it has vanished! “The telephone … has been disconnected, the company’s building on Kingsbury Street is locked, and attempts to reach officers of the company were not successful.” Still, Seguin is reportedly “committed to getting the nut built.”

No Sprinkles on Mine: The small town of Vassalboro, Maine, is considering a business plan that would turn an old motel into a topless coffee shop. “There were entertainment gals there before and it didn’t seem like it was problematic.” If approved, it will be a hearty breakfast compliment to the late-riser Heart Attack Grill in Phoenix, Arizona.

Creationist Convicts: It’s official: Kent “Dr. Dino” Hovid and his wife, Jo — who collectively owned the creationist mini-theme park Dinosaur Adventure Land in Pensacola, Florida — are both going to prison.

New Orleans Neighborhood Art: A project named Prospect.1 has turned several homes in a “middle of nowhere” neighborhood in New Orleans into conceptual art, including one that’s been transformed into a giant bank vault. “While many embrace all the new art … some are decidedly resistant to entering the postmodern age.” It ends on January 18.
