 Quirky Tourist Attractions in or near TexasWhile in Texas, you might enjoy a visit to: It's "Texas' only show cave with a 100 ft. waterfall" and a dinosaur. 1.5 million wooden nickels here, including the World's Largest, which is over 13 feet tall and weighs 2,500 pounds. About 100 concrete hippos are scattered throughout this community, including a large one in front of the high school. Apparently an escaped circus hippo in the early 20th century created quite a stir here. My favorite was a pair of hippos, with the girl in a yellow bikini. Features a walk-through airfield on a an anonymous Pacific airfield populated by animatronic dummies and rats -- and watch out for the exploding grenades! |
