When the theater was demolished in 1977 the bulb was carefully moved and plugged in at the Stockyards Museum. On Jesse's headstone is a Confederate Flag and "Supposedly killed in 1882." Ha-ha, Jesse outfoxed them. The businesses have changed, but a cluster of vintage buildings paneled with petrified wood still stand. Ornate county courthouse, dwarfing the surrounding town, and decorated with carved, contorted stone faces that are part of a legend. |
