Every August a local fire truck stops by with an aerial bucket and hoists lucky people up to the seat. A restaurant in a hillside cave overlooking the Gasconade River. You don't even reach the mouth of this popular cave until you drive past the Meramec Caverns motel and RV park, and walk past the ice cream stand and huge gift shop. Boone is still buried here, according to the locals. Other towns say that he was dug up and buried elsewhere; we recommend paying your respects in all of them. |
