The windmill is an artifact from an earlier tenant where it made a little more sense -- a Van de Kamp Bakery. Some call it tasteless, but the LA County Coroner office has been running this tiny gift shop of unique souvenirs since 1993. J. B. Nethercutt was the wealthy owner of Merle Norman Cosmetics. This elegant museum is encased in a windowless building in an industrial park. Exhibits include the first VW Beetle imported to the U.S. in 1946. Restaurant built in 1949 is the oldest of this chain still operating in the US. Sign is 35 ft. high, with iconic chubby burger boy at the base. |
