 Quirky Tourist Attractions in or near TexasWhile in Texas, you might enjoy a visit to: Cave exposed in 1960s roadwork features formations such as the "Lake of the Moon," and the "Flowing Stone of Time." About 100 concrete hippos are scattered throughout this community, including a large one in front of the high school. Apparently an escaped circus hippo in the early 20th century created quite a stir here. My favorite was a pair of hippos, with the girl in a yellow bikini. Rural Texas town celebrates its watermelon industry with an annual festival and a year-'round majestic 'melon water tower. Dead mascots watch the Aggies' electronic scoreboard from their graves. |
