Quirky Tourist Attractions in or near VirginiaWhile in Virginia, you might enjoy a visit to: Charlottesville, Virginia: Nearly Nude Dropout Hero MonumentEx-frat boy dies romantically in battle, gets a statue that would make any frat boy cringe. Schuyler, Virginia: Boyhood Home of the Real John-Boy WaltonFor those who still remember the TV series. Schuyler is the home town of the guy who wrote the Walton's books (and narrated the shows). His name was Earl, not John-Boy. Lexington, Virginia: Stonewall Jackson's Stuffed Horse"Little Sorrel," admired by fans of Stonewall Jackson, a former VMI professor. Horse stands near the raincoat Stonewall wore when he was mortally wounded. Bedford, Virginia: National D-Day MemorialMemorial to the Allied landing in Normandy in 1944. Bedford lost more men per capita on D-Day than any other American city. © roadsideamerica.com, Doug Kirby, Ken Smith, Mike Wilkins.
