 Quirky Tourist Attractions in or near KansasWhile in Kansas, you might enjoy a visit to: A house of the future circa 1954, which means that it doesn't have as much future as we would like. But it does have hidden televisions, electric curtain openers, and "moon glow" lighting. When he was in Kansas, the 19th century militant abolitionist lived here and shot at people outside. The old cabin is preserved from the elements inside of another, more recent, building. The monument actually honors the pig's human owner, Wilbur Chapman. Poor Pete the Pig is portrayed on its plaque, but has otherwise been forgotten. Is that a giant ball of string next to a horse-drawn hearse? A display of local murder weapons (including an electric drill) and an exhibit on the World's Tallest Man? Strange things await here. |
