The food-as-people mural on the outside wall of a Wildwood pancake house is cartoon refreshment in a land of re-fried Googie design. An important mural? Perhaps not, but we love it. Twenty feet tall, made of concrete. Who knew that New Jersey made champagne? The big bottle continues to be repurposed for advertising purposes. Off the beach at Cape May facing Delaware, the lumpy remains of an experimental ship made of concrete, the USS Atlantus, are slowly disappearing. A helpful sign explains its history and importance. |
