An attempt to build a dam on the Otter Tail River in 1908 was dissembled by a hidden natural spring. Huge chunks of the old concrete dam still span the river in this city park. Stylized mallard depiction has been here since 1950. Statue is strikingly painted with not-exactly-regulation red breast. 20 feet tall, it has for decades hooted down the claims of several newer, not-quite-as-large rivals. |
