Door and shuttered windows were open when it was used as a tourist info booth in the early days. 110-foot-long pedestrian tunnel rigged with motion sensors hooked to 22 translucent fish sculptures that pulse with LED lighting simulating motion. A giant, old ship engine and propeller, mounted indoors, that you control at the push of a button, plus a World War II sub that you can tour. Wells has painted a big Smiley Face on its water tower, but directed the smile toward Lake Michigan, not toward the landlubbers that drive past on US Hwy 2. Maybe the town ran out of smiley paint. |
