A Dutch Village, a Netherlands Museum, "De Zwaan," a grain-grinding, 240-year-old, ten-story-tall Dutch windmill that sells its own flour, and two wooden shoe factory tours. The center of all things Ford, exhibiting the pen he used to pardon Nixon, and the .45 Colt pistol used by "Squeaky" Fromme to try to kill him. On the grounds are the side-by-side graves of Gerald and First Lady Betty Ford. Infamous local lady who was known -- too late -- for murdering her husbands. The exhibit includes the wheelbarrow she used to cart their bodies away. The Festival is a survivor. Originally created because of a popular Wizard of Oz store that was once in town, it has also outlasted a museum that came (and went) after the store. |
