Quirky Tourist Attractions in or near TexasWhile in Texas, you might enjoy a visit to: Granbury, Texas: John Wilkes Booth did not die! MuralsPaintings depicting a post-Lincoln assassination John Wilkes Booth line the walls of the Nutshell restaurant. College Station, Texas: Reveille, First Lady of A&MDead mascots watch the Aggies' electronic scoreboard from their graves. Hutto, Texas: Hutto Hippo Statues About 100 concrete hippos are scattered throughout this community, including a large one in front of the high school. Apparently an escaped circus hippo in the early 20th century created quite a stir here. My favorite was a pair of hippos, with the girl in a yellow bikini. College Station, Texas: George Bush Presidential Library and MuseumAmerica's President, 1988-1992, is remembered in this lavish, and sometimes silly, museum. © roadsideamerica.com, Doug Kirby, Ken Smith, Mike Wilkins.
