Vince Hannemann's backyard folk art environment, built because he thinks it's fun. About 100 concrete hippos are scattered throughout this community, including a large one in front of the high school. Apparently an escaped circus hippo in the early 20th century created quite a stir here. My favorite was a pair of hippos, with the girl in a yellow bikini. Cave exposed in 1960s roadwork features formations such as the "Lake of the Moon," and the "Flowing Stone of Time." |
