 Quirky Tourist Attractions in or near West VirginiaWhile in West Virginia, you might enjoy a visit to: The bathroom in the Barbour County Historical Museum holds a treat -- two mummies preserved by a local Dr. Frankenstein. Named "Charlie," the giant miner statue is made of scrap metal, carries a lunch pail and wears a helmet with a working light. According to the nearby plaque, the memorial was erected in 1999 to honor coal miners. "God's Ark of Safety," a full-sized version of Noah's Ark, has been under construction for over 30 years by a local church. A UFO allegedly crashed in Kecksburg in 1965, and the town proudly displays a replica that was left there by a TV show. |
