Routes and
Road Trips
The editors at RoadsideAmerica.com have selected some of the most amusing landmarks and attractions along popular routes. You can add these to My Sights by clicking on the link to the Trip Map, then clicking the Trip "Save As" button.
- Adding too many route trips may max out your allowable number
of attractions. Delete old ones from your list to make room.
- If your trip is in the opposite direction of the pre-built trip, under "Places in Route" click Remove All, and then add places back in the order you prefer.
- I-95 Pt. 1: Florida-Georgia-South Carolina
[18 attractions] It's the classic drive from NYC to Miami, only do it in reverse. Start south of Miami at Coral Castle and Monkey Jungle. This leg takes you as far as South of the Border, Dillon, SC. - I-80 Pt. 1: California-Wyoming
[25 attractions] The obvious and not-so-obvious stops if you lateral across the US. USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier, Great Statues of Auburn, Donner Party, Thunder Mountain, Gilgal Gardens, Ames Brothers Pyramid and more! All on or within a few miles of I-80. - I-80 Pt. 2: Nebraska-Iowa
[24 attractions] Places worth seeing along I-80, including the Strategic Air and Space Museum, water towers that grin at you or make you stop for coffee, statues and museums. - I-10 Pt. 1: California - Arizona
[25 attractions] I-10 takes you from the Pacific to the Atlantic. Here's the bizarre stuff near the interstate in the two westernmost states. Start at the Clown in the Dress and finish this leg at The Thing.
- I-10 Pt. 2: New Mexico - Texas
[23 attractions] Continuing west to east, from the Las Cruces' Recycled Roadrunner to Beaumont's Happy Halfwit, with lots of statues and Muffler Men in between.
- Maine In and Out ASAP
[18 attractions] Good stops along a familiar route for us. Typically, we dart up into Maine, see as much as we can, and try to curve over to NH before nightfall. The trickiest part is along the winding Route 1 coast, where traffic can slow to an antiquing and weekend shopper crawl.
