Muffler Man - Dennis Hopper Connection
Summer of 2000, mysterious photos were sent to roadsideamerica.com depicting a muffler man lying prone. His name was "Tony," but we didn't know where he was.
Message #1: "Send me one million dollars or the tall guy gets it..."
Message #2: "We are near Tony's old home...Tell Babe he is unharmed...unmarked bills..."
Message #3: "We bought "Tony" and are manufacturing three new ones for Dennis
Hopper's traveling art show."
The show was on the road in 2001. The connection to Hopper is the groundbreaking appearance of a muffler man in the film Easy Rider in the 1960s.
