Wax Wedding a Victim of Gay Marriage Ban
Madame Tussauds, a wax museum in Las Vegas, Nevada, called off a November 15 "wedding" of its wax figures of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt when a Los Angeles-based spokeswoman for Pitt complained about it.
Movie stars Pitt and Joile, the parents of three children, have never wed, and Pitt recently told Esquire magazine that he doesn't intend to marry until "everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able." That's a sweeping statement, but Pitt was referring only to America's current ban on gay marriage, and was not sanctioning polygamy, people marrying their pets, their avatars, Satan, etc.
The staged wedding was designed to promote the wax museum's new Angelina Jolie figure, and would also serve as a useful way to recycle other wax stars. The "fantasy" aspect of the wedding could have been inferred from the witnesses, who were to include Elvis, Liberace, John Wayne, Bugsy Siegel, and Frank Sinatra, all of whom are dead.
The Pitt spokeswoman admitted that Pitt, who is currently in India, was unaware of the wedding. But she was firm in her position that he would not like it.
