The Volo Auto Museum has no death cars -- at least at the moment -- but it has the second-best thing: celebrity cars, and lots of them. The latest addition to its impressive collection is the custom-built fake Ferrari Daytona Spyder that Don "Sonny Crockett" Johnson drove in the 1980s TV series, Miami Vice.
The car, scheduled to make its museum debut on December 15, will join a host of other famous film and TV vehicles, such as the Batmobile from the 1960s TV series, the Cat In The Hat car, the Scooby Doo "Mystery Machine" van, the AMC Pacer from Wayne's World, the Back to the Future time-traveling DeLorean, the Blues Brothers' "Bluesmobile" police car, and K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider.
Visitors who want to see these vehicles should visit sooner rather than later, as Volo has a habit of selling its older exhibits to make way for new ones. Currently for sale are the indestructible "Christine" from the John Carpenter/Stephen King film, the Ghostbusters' ambulance, and the "General Lee" -- formerly owned by John Schneider -- from the TV series The Dukes of Hazzard.
Visitors to Volo might also want to check out the Katyusha rocket and launcher that are on display -- one of only three that have been allowed in this country -- as part of its special "War on Terror" exhibit. [11/25/2006]
