The moribund Hong Kong tourism industry will get no help from a proposed Bruce Lee Museum. Hours after tourism officials hailed the project as a major initiative to revive the industry, its creators revealed a severe lack of cash.
The museum was to mark the 25th anniversary of the chop-socky hero's death on July 20, 1973.
Secretary for Economic Services, Stephen Ip Shu-kwan had praised the project while detailing a plan to cope with Hong Kong's recent 24 percent drop-off in visitors.
Museum coordinator Sophie Yekawa said no money had been offered by the Government and the museum was "still a dream."
Meanwhile, the eatertainment contagion has spread to Asia. The Bruce Lee Cafe held its gala grand opening "At The Rickshaw" in Hong Kong on May 30th. [06/07/1998]
