A company named Human Pheromone Sciences, Inc., has helped sponsor the kickoff event for the long-awaited Museum of Sex in New York City, NY.
Subtitled "A Celebration of the Sixth Sense" and billed as "dedicated to the art and science of chemical attraction," the November 12 gala praised the role played by pheromones in human monkey business.
The Sex Museum, which occupies a yet-to-be renovated building on Fifth Avenue at 27th St., has been a continual bone in the throat of New York City mayor Rudolph Guiliani, who has kicked nearly every sex shop and strip club out of Manhattan.
Not everyone agrees that pheromones play a significant - or any - role in the human mating process, but the CEO of Human Pheromone Sciences, Inc. (the former EROX Corporation) proclaimed, "When science has fully explored the effects of human pheromones, people will be amazed at how long it took to overcome prejudice and skepticism on the subject."
"Scientific studies have shown that human pheromones stimulate the Vomeronasal system and impact on the emotional centers of the human brain."
Human Pheromone Sciences is a technology-based company whose initial products include prestige-priced fragrances and toiletries. The Museum Of Sex is open, for the moment. [11/15/1998]
