Recent ads in The New York Times prove that Eatertainment does not sate the American tourists' hunger for sustenance true. Models Cafe and Television City, two failed NYC eatertainment concepts, had their belongings auctioned off in mid-January.
Models Cafe sold off more than 50 high fashion mannequins, a models runway, model memorabilia, 250 chairs, brand new booths and settes, a H600 Hobart 60QT Mixer With Attachments, Groen Tilting Skillets, along with an assortment of Sound, Video and Lighting Equipment.
Television City auctioned 100 Mitsubishi Color TVs, video cameras, 25 Klipsch Subwoofers, Yokes and a Digital Address Architectural Lighting System With Control Cables, in addition to 25 bar stools and sheet pans.
Both auctions were handled by Michael Amodeo Company, Inc.
As we have stated repeatedly, most of these concepts are designed from above for publicly-traded quick-buck chain entities that do not care about you or your loved ones. The experience of eating at, say, a Planet Hollywood (whether in San Diego or Orlando) is summed up by the answer to our question: "What kind of food do you serve here?" "The kind with an average bill of $18.50."
