Where we'll be greeting the Millennium
The restored Forest Fire Lookout Tower in Duncannon, PA, is now open to the public, after a year of relocation, restoration, and red tape. The tower had over 1,000 visitors in its first three weeks of operation. Owner Jimmy Rosen advises us that "every paying customer receives a rubber duck which he or she takes to the top and tosses out trying to hit one of the many plastic swimming pools 110 feet below. If you make it in, you win one of many 'valuable' prizes." Official signs below warn bystanders "Caution! Falling Ducks." We advised Jimmy last year to install a fire ranger mannequin in the tower; he's still looking for a suitable model...
