Brooklyn's Replica Statue of Liberty given new home

The 37-foot tall Statue of Liberty replica atop the Liberty warehouse has been donated to the Brooklyn Museum of Art. The statue was carefully removed from its century-long roost on the 8-story building at 43 W. 64th Street and transported to the museum, where it will stand in the sculpture garden. The owners donated it in memory of rescue workers killed in the Sept 11 attack -- but the timing was no doubt influenced by development plans to add four floors of apartments on top of the building.
