The owner of the property where Dogpatch USA sits is attempting a sale on eBay this week. The Arkansas theme park, designed around Al Capp's Lil' Abner comic strip characters, closed in 1993. Vandals have carried off nearly all of the signs and portable items, and the land is untended since the park closed. The 141 acres features 50 buildings, restaurants, maintenance buildings, theaters, ride entrances, warehouses, booths, restrooms, train station, tram, arcade areas, and a miniature golf course. The site also features the largest natural waterfall in the Ozarks, and several natural caves.
The asking price is $1 million. Update: No serious takers on the EBay auction. The photo, circa 1985, shows our Hinged ManTM with two lovely Dogpatch gals at the entrance to Dogpatch USA. (Thanks to tipster Tony Paglia for the lead) [10/20/2002]
