Aunt Bea's House For Sale

The North Carolina mansion of Frances Bavier, the woman who played Aunt Bea in the Andy Griffith Show, has just been put on the market. It has 6100 square feet, with a flying circular staircase and two-story entry. Located in at 503 W. Elk Street in Siler City (not just a fictional place made up by the Griffith writers), it also boasts low Chatham County taxes. Bavier came to North Carolina in the '60s to take part in Duke University's famous (and pre-Atkins) "Rice Diet.," and decided to become a permanent resident. You could buy this whole package for $400,000.
