Artifacts and objects from Kissimee, Florida's $100 million version of China in miniature go on auction this week. Florida Splendid China, which first opened in 1993 and closed in 2003, will sell everything at a public auction at the defunct park.
Perhaps you'd like to own a miniature version of the Dalai Lama's Tibetan Palace, the Leshan Grand Buddha, or the Emperor's Summer Palace? Or maybe just a couple of jeep trams and some theater seats? Even the dragon-wrapped, 60 ft. long, 18 ft. high fiberglass entrance sign is for sale. Some of this stuff would be great for flash-theming a local McDonald's.
America's only remaining version of China in miniature continues operation in Katy, Texas -- Forbidden Gardens.
Auction: 3000 Splendid China Blvd., Kissimmee. Thur. - Sat. Oct. 9-11, 2004, starting 10 am, previews on Oct. 7, 8th, 10 am. More info at Randy Kincaid Auction Company (www.kincaid.com). [12/06/2004]
