Information We Collect

RoadsideAmerica.com collects information from you when you use the website, sign up to receive our newsletter, voluntarily submit a roadside attraction tip, photo, video, feedback form or email, and provide us with your comments and other content.

Roadside America Newsletter: When you voluntarily sign up to receive our newsletter, you provide your email address to enable us to send you the newsletter. When you submit information through our contact form or post comments, you provide your name, email address, and any other information you decide to provide.

Roadside America Tip Submission: If you submit a new or updated attraction suggestion for inclusion in our collection of roadside attractions, you provide us with your email address (so we can verify the origin of the submission and contact you if it is published) and a username (so we can publish a credit for the tip). For your privacy protection we do not publish your email address without your consent. If you submit a tip accompanied by an explicit request to publish your email address, the decision to publish that information is solely at our discretion. Tip contributor contact information and source content may be retained in our internal company files only for as long as RoadsideAmerica.com determines it is necessary.

If you create an Account on RoadsideAmerica.com for the purposes of accessing special tools or content, you provide us with an email address and username.

Roadside America Mobile Apps: In order to function properly, Roadside America mobile apps require an internet connection and user location. This location data is used to deliver content in the app, and is not shared, stored or associated with the user on our systems unless you have granted permission. Content (such as attraction information, photos, and maps) is delivered to the mobile app in a streamlined format by a program that excludes the elements described elsewhere in this privacy policy pertaining to the RoadsideAmerica.com website, including advertising, cookies, and third party analytics. Any user can operate app primary features without providing personal data to RoadsideAmerica.com, however there are several actions an app user might choose which require some minimal data:

  1. Submission of a visitor tip/photos for publication consideration by our editors (Requires valid email address and a name, nickname, or username).
  2. Submission of a feedback email, or support email. (Requires valid username and email address). These communications are between a user and our internal team.
  3. Creation of a user account to make optional purchases to unlock additional regions (Requires valid username and email address).

When a user creates a Roadside America account to purchase and restore regions, Roadside America is granted permission to retain essential operational user details, such as username, email address, password, account creation date, last sign-in date. This data is not shared with third parties, and is only used to deliver the service, customer support, or important notifications about the software.

A verified user can request deletion of their account data from the system, and will no longer be able to restore purchased regions.

Our apps are used under these End User License Agreements to which the user consented to before purchasing.

The RoadsideAmerica.com website may collect anonymous data from you in the process of delivering a service you are using. For example, to email a My Sights trip you created to a friend, RoadsideAmerica.com stores the trip name and our site's attraction ID numbers -- but not an email addresses or other personal information.

Ads: RoadsideAmerica.com displays ads that are provided by an advertising network. Google AdSense, in partnership with advertising companies, ad technology and ad verification services, may set cookies on your browser or read cookies that are already there. Server Logging: RoadsideAmerica.com automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser. Note: If you mail a trip to someone, My Sights creates a file on our server with the trip name and list of places. Only you have this trip data URL, though you can share it with others.
