- Waco, Texas - World's Largest Dog Collection
Located on I-35 is an Antique Mall, (don't recall the name) but you can see it from the interstate on the left before you enter Waco. There is a dog and a megaphone (the old RCA symbol) painted on the building. Inside the mall you will find the "World's Largest Dog Collection." They have over 4,000 different items on display, including a stuffed dog.

We arrived to find the gate open, yet were hesitant to enter. The friendly man across the street mowing his grass stopped his mower, and told us that since the gate was open we could go as far as the church. We drove up to the church, and realized it was built on the same site as the compound. Remnants of the pool and underground storage facility were visible, along with numerous monuments. Definitely interesting if you are into offbeat sites.
Note: there was indeed a barking dog, but we drove right by and went up to the church anyway. On the way out, we stopped at the memorial. The dog barked again, but eventually approached us and calmed quickly.

I went to the site today. As described here, the gate was open and the place looked inviting. I got out to take a photo of the memorial just inside the gate -- and had two huge, unfriendly dogs come after me. I never got any further than that first memorial before they (the dogs, not people) ran me off. So, heads up on that!
