We got a good laugh out of this one when we realized that we'd driven right past it the night before when getting groceries for our hotel stay. Seems that the frog has been painted and is looking rather snazzy.
[Heather Casey, 08/03/2009]A large metal frog statue greets visitors to Rayne. He's even dressed up in a top hat. Besides this happy frog, there are several murals painted on buildings around town and on the underpass for Interstate 10. Rayne claims to be the Frog Capital of the World and you can tell they are very proud of their frogs. They hold an annual Frog Festival.
[Bobbie Armstrong, 09/04/2007]- Rayne, Louisiana - Frog-Crazy in Louisiana
Gotta stop off I-10 in Rayne, LA, to view the frog murals all over town. Saturn automobiles filmed a commercial here several years ago (Sat-run, as the locals called it) and put the murals more or less on the map. Just outside of town is my favorite daiquiri shack in all of La Louisianne, sits in a sugarcane field with a little swamp of it's own in front. Tell 'em Joe sent ya! I ain't Joe, by the way, and they won't care who sent you, but you'll fit right in if you act kind of silly. Anyone with a designated driver can make a tour of daiquiri shacks across the whole state, there are daiquiri shacks in Rayne, Breux Bridge, Lafayette, heck, just about everywhere. Always get the medium sized blue ones, they're just the right size to get from one daiquiri shack to the next without chronic 'brainfreeze'. And let me tell you, there is nothing quite like a heap o' blue daiquiri's to make you crave fried food and loud loud music...just the pick-me-up required to really enjoy the Sportsman's Paradise.
