- Penndel, Pennsylvania - Airplane on a Roof The "Airplane Diner" is not the Inn Flight as someone claimed. The Inn Flight is just a diner that really has nothing to do with aeronautics (I never understood why they called it that). I have eaten at both. My friend worked at the "Airplane Diner" through two owners but as it was mentioned, the cost to maintain and keep within code was simply impossible.
It was laying in pieces across the street (behind a barbed wire fence for about a year) but from what I heard it ended up at Dover AF Base. Also, as mentioned, no owner was able to make a profit or become successful. No-one could make that cool, novel idea take-off. (no pun intended...) But it was awesome before it began to fall apart!
