- Portage, Wisconsin - State Rights race horse grave "State Rights" was a trotting race horse owned by Chauncey Roberts back in the 19th century. Apparently Mr. Roberts had strong feelings about both state's rights and his horse, which he raced at local county fairs. When the horse died at around age 28, Mr. Roberts so loved him that he had him buried standing up. The grave (now in its 2nd location) can be found on the roadside of Old Military Road about five miles out of Portage Wisconsin (in Fort Winnebago township).
