Janesville, Wisconsin - Two-story Outhouse A friend e-mailed me a link to your "Two-Story Outhouses" page and I found it amusing. I am currently working at the Rock County Historical Society in Janesville, Wisconsin. One of the historic structures we maintain is the Lincoln-Tallman House, which features a two-story privy. The house is a large four-level, Italianate villa style house built in 1855-57. Abraham Lincoln was a guest in 1859. At the rear of the house there is a two-story privy. The bottom portion can only be accessed outside. Thus, it was primarily utilized during the warmer seasons. Right above it is the indoor privy, which is connected to the second floor servants hallway. Both the bottom and top privys contain 4-holers, all of different sizes for the different family members.
