Homemade Star Wars X-Wing Fighter
The full-size replica Star Wars X-Wing Fighter is part of the decor of Mike's Place, a college town bar and restaurant. Since 1997 it has been thrilling children (or college students who were enslaved to the Star Wars franchise as kids). The rebel X-Wing fighter is home built, and it looks it up close, which adds to its charm. It started on the roof; it's now anchored in the parking lot for better viewing -- although you can't clamber inside. Visitors used to stick stuffed animals and other items in the cockpit, but the owner has locked it tight.
The eclectic themes and decor continue inside, including an old bus (with seating for diners) and a "castle hall" in the back, complete with a throne and, on the walls, Greek paddles -- or pizza paddles? The owner, Mike Kostensky, performs here in his own local rock band.
