Grave of Edgar Cayce, Famous Prophet
Hopkinsville, Kentucky
Edgar Cayce, the weird seer, grew up in this part of the world, and when he was done on this plain of existence, his body was buried in Riverside cemetery. At the Pennyroyal Area Museum in downtown, the Cayce exhibit includes his Bible and some other artifacts.
North of town at the graveyard, a historical marker describes Cayce as a "psychic counselor and healer."
Cayce is credited with predicting that California would slide into the ocean, although no proof of that has been found, since his "readings" from that time -- he lived in Hopkinsville until 1920 -- went unrecorded. Fortunately for posterity, transcripts of his trances for the following 25 years were preserved, including his prediction that a death ray from Atlantis would be discovered in 1958 -- and maybe it was, but it's been hidden away for sinister purposes by the superrich.
The Edgar Cayce Association for Research and Enlightenment still operates out of Virginia Beach, Virginia, just uptown from a giant gorilla dressed in swim trunks and sunglasses.
