The Hubcap House (Gone)

Field review by the editors.

Peoria, Illinois

Ron Innes, owner and creator of the Hubcap House business, decorated his perimeter fence and building sides with old hubcaps in the 1980s. Even the roof was shingled with hubcaps, a rarity in the world of Odd Buildings. Nearly every state boasts some sort of hubcap sprinkled dwelling, but few name a business after them.

After Innes' accidental death in December 2002, the Hubcap House was closed as a place of business. It was dismantled in 2006.

A Hubcap House business exists in nearby Creve Coeur, Illinois - 601 South Main St., but it's strictly business -- no hubcap siding.
