Sunset Beach, California

If you had to live in an old wooden water tower, you could do a lot worse than this unique 87-ft. tall structure, with its commanding view of the Pacific Ocean. The water tower house -- "The Tower" -- is constructed from parts of a 19th century wooden water tower.

An elevator carries tenants up to the three level living space, which includes a large bar in the tower-top view room. It's mostly marketed these days as a novel weekly vacation rental.
