Elvis Museum
Woodlawn, Illinois
Open since 2004, this Elvis Museum is the personal collection of Clarence Skurat, who is in his sixties and has been collecting Elvisabilia all of his life. Skurat takes pride in the cleanliness and order of his collection, which contains more than 1,000 items.
Many of these are mass-produced collectibles -- cookie jars, board games, whiskey decanters, paper doll books -- but Skurat does have some original items, such as a life-size mannequin of Elvis purchased from a St. Louis furniture store, all 30 TV Guides that had Elvis on the cover, a golden bust of the King made of more than 160 layers of cardboard, Elvis's third-grade report card, and a $30 paycheck from when Elvis worked at Precision Tool in Memphis.
Woodlawn has a population of 638.
