Woolworth Museum

Field review by the editors.

Oxnard, California

F.W. Woolworth Co. was the prototypical 5-and 10-cent chain store. It went out of business in 1997. It never had a company museum.

So David Feigin, a Woolworth's fan, decided to make one. He bought a vintage store (opened in 1950) and has restored it with original wood, brick, bathroom tiles, molding, and light fixtures. He's also stocked it with original items -- none for sale, unfortunately -- as well as an operating lunch counter and a working dial pay phone.
