Starchild Flying Saucer (Gone)

Field review by the editors.

Roswell, New Mexico

Starchild would be lost among the other alien gift shops in Roswell were it not for the flying saucer embedded in its outer wall. Its presence is serendipitous; its former home, the Crash Down Diner, went out of business, and Starchild expanded into its former neighbor's space.

The shop sells UFO crash scene recreations made from Roswell rocks, as well as the usual bulb-headed alien ID cards, aprons, mugs, posters, door mats, shot glasses, Christmas ornaments, baseball caps, stickers, refrigerator magnets, and key chains, as well as t-shirts with slogans such as "We Probe In Peace" and "Will Abduct For Beer."

The exterior UFO was reported gone in 2016.
