John Wayne Statue #1

Field review by the editors.

Beverly Hills, California

One of (at least) two statues of The Duke in the greater L.A. area -- this John Wayne is in classic movie cowboy regalia, astride a horse.

The 1984 bronze by artist Harry Jackson originally stood in front of the Great Western Savings and Loan building. When that institution moved in 1992, The Duke was left behind. The building and statue were owned by Hustler publisher Larry Flint until 2013.
