Johnny Carson Mini-Monument
Burbank, California
A small, easy-to-miss monument and plaque was dedicated to talk show host Johnny Carson in 1992, the year that he retired from hosting The Tonight Show, which was taped across the street at NBC Studios.
The image of Carson appears to be coming out of a TV set (and into your living room, America!). A plaque notes that the monument and adjacent Johnny Carson Park is "Dedicated to the King of Late Night for 30 years of keeping America up late and laughing." Carson would frequently joke that his show was coming to the viewers "from beautiful downtown Burbank."
