Man-Powered Flight Memorial
Cawelo, California
Much fuss was raised in 1977 when the Gossamer Condor completed the world's first flight in a human-pedaled aircraft right here. The subsequent lack of human-pedaled aircraft suggests that the path of Human History has not been altered much by this milestone.
This is a plaque bolted to what looks like an upended base of a big marble column.
There's also a local museum of flight, the Minter Air Field Museum on Vulter St. Outside was an old control tower, some retired equipment and a couple of planes.
