Fatcat-Castoff Dinosaur (Gone)

Field review by the editors.

Holbrook, Arizona

This bronze sculpture was donated to the town of Holbrook by the Lundeen family of Fountain Hills, a well-to-do suburb of Phoenix. According its accompanying plaque, the Lundeens bought it while visiting art galleries in New York City and had it shipped to their desert home, where "they envisioned converting it into an outdoor shower near the swimming pool."

After it arrived, however, the Lundeens discovered that the crane that they had hired to hoist the dinosaur out of the driveway wasn't long enough to reach their pool! The Lundeens then donated the now-useless (to them) dinosaur to Holbrook.

We saw it in 2009; by 2020 it had disappeared from that location.
