Paul Bunyan.

Giant Sitting, Talking Paul Bunyan

Field review by the editors.

Brainerd, Minnesota

In the Brainerd area since 1954, Paul sits on an equally Bunyanesque stump. If you're lucky, this unique robot-Bunyan will blink his eyes, raise his hand in a friendly greeting, and speak to you by name as you enter his giant woodshed, but that depends on whether or not someone's operating his control booth at the time.

Random stats: Paul wears size 80 boots and is 26 feet tall sitting down. Babe the Blue Ox is here as well, 24 feet long and 15 feet high, built in 1965 by Jac T. Brown. There are also lesser-known Bunyan-sized companions such as Henry the Squirrel and Sport the Reversible Dog. You can mail your postcards from Paul Bunyan's mailbox, but you have to climb a ladder to get to the slot.
