Minnesota's Oldest Dairy Queen
Roseville, Minnesota
Looking like the top of a control tower that somehow sank into a parking lot, Minnesota's oldest Dairy Queen has been serving walk-up customers since 1947. Its neon ice cream cone sign and slab-angled glass walls are beloved by fans of mid-20th century architecture, but reportedly not by the building's owner, who wants to knock it down and replace it with a modern DQ.
The ancient ice cream shop attained new respectability in 2010, when the Minnesota Preservation Alliance named it as one of the Top 10 Most Endangered Historic Places in the state.
