Statue of Teenage Myrna Loy, At Her High School
Venice, California
Myrna Loy was a Hollywood superstar of the 1930s and 40s. But she was just Myrna Adele Williams, a teenage kid, when she posed as the central statue in a work sculpted by a high school art teacher, Harry Fielding Winebrenner, in 1921. Titled "Fountain of Education," statue Myrna stood in front of her high school for over 70 years. The original cement statue weathered and was vandalized, and was finally removed in 2002. It had outlasted Myrna Loy, who died in 1993.
In 2010, a bronze version of the statue was erected in front of the school.
