Fergus Falls is the seat of Otter Tail County, but that doesn't quite explain the town's enthusiastic alignment with a ground-hugging woodland creature. Posed as if sniffing for a 150-ft.-tall fur trapper, the Big Otter -- its name is Otto -- squats in Adams Park.
Otto was reportedly built by local high schoolers, is 40 feet long, and is made of concrete-covered metal that rings when you tap it. Not a giant on the scale of other Northern Plains animal statuary, but worth a stop.
A sign in front warns: "Stay off the otter. Not responsible for accidents."
